I have fond memories of visiting the Royal Horticultural Society’s flower shows at the Horticultural Halls in Westminster in the early 1990s.  He and his partner Flores would meet me at lunchtime (I’d often take a half day after working in the morning) and we enjoyed wandering round the 1930s halls admiring the beautiful blooms and sometimes purchasing a plant to take home.  We’d often have lunch in their basement cafe and there was always much to discuss and to laugh about.
